Wednesday, June 1

My previous posting was celebrating the good news about Baby Brody and now I am writing about the passing of my sweet step-dad "Daddy Don".  For 25 years he was in my life.  Some people never know what it's like to have a father - I was lucky enough to have two.  Also, because of him I've been blessed to have a wonderful step-brother that I'm very close to, so much so we hardly ever introduce ourselves using the "step" part.  Just hard to believe that within 2 months I'll say goodbye to Daddy Don and then welcome a son in my life.  I guess you can look at it as one of the twists and turns that make up the Circle of Life.  I wanted to share the following which was read during the funeral service:

God Saw He Was Getting Tired

God saw he was getting tired
And a cure was not to be.
So He put His arms around him
And whispered, "Come with Me."
With tearful eyes we watched him suffer
And saw him fade away.
Although we loved him dearly,
We could not make him stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands to rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best.
